The breakthrough season

The 2016-17 campaign proved to be a breakthrough season for Mbappe as he made a massive impact for Monaco.

He scored 11 goals in Ligue 1 and helped his club win the league title.

Mbappe’s performances earned him a call-up to the French national team in 2017 and he also won the Golden Boy award in the same year.

Youngest Frenchman to win the World Cup

He was part of the French national team that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup, making him the youngest French player to ever play in the final of tournament and win it.

Mbappe signed a 10-year deal with Nike back in 2019, which is believed to be worth £140m plus bonuses.

The striker has been with the company since 2015, but was the subject of a bidding war between Adidas, Puma and Nike after lifting the 2018 World Cup.

Mbappe is the youngest player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final.

Mbappe has won the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award three times in a row (2018-19, 2020-21, 2021-22).

The individual trophy wasn’t awarded in 2019-20 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
